Cold throw and hot throw explained
Kerzio separates a candle's unlit scent from its performance while burning. This makes ratings more comparable and helps match candles to rooms.
Cold throw: scent while unlit
Cold throw describes how clearly the wax smells without a flame. Avoid judging immediately after opening and smell from a little distance to reduce nose fatigue.
Hot throw: scent while burning
Hot throw is the noticeable scent released into the room. Judge it after a sufficient melt pool has formed and account for room size, doors and ventilation.
Rate fairly
Greater intensity is not automatically better. A subtle candle can suit a small room perfectly. Separate performance from personal taste and, where possible, test more than once.
